“Having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is the hope to which He has called you, what are the riches of His glorious inheritance in the saints, and what is the immeasurable greatness of His power towards us who believe according to the working of His great might.Ephesians 1:18-19 (ESV)
Country Oaks Baptist Church – “Work Day”
There is an old saying, “Out of sight, out of mind.”I drove out to the Mission to walk the property. My first thoughts were negative. The Church appeared to be abandon, a cluster of building needing attention. Then the Lord opened the eyes of my heart.I began to see that God’s house needed some good old-fashioned love and care. Now! Before I go any further, I must explain that I place no blame on anyone. My heart is in the right place and open to positive action.I took photos and prepared a list of items needed to accomplish the cleanup.I contacted the new Pastor, Bro. Bob Davis, to discuss my intentions and to seek his blessing on this project which would be a workday at Country Oaks.I talked with Bro. David Hingson, Youth Pastor of Chipley First Baptist, as well as, Bro. Richard Gilbert and Bro. Sam Hagan of the West Florida Baptist Men.We are all in agreement to go ahead and plan the workday(s).It is my prayer that much will be accomplished by the time you read this message. The cleanup on the outside of the Church will, hopefully, attract the attention of the people in the community and that it will “open the eyes of their hearts.”Please pray that our Lord Jesus will open all our hearts so we may all see Him and obey.We will not stop there with the cleaning of God’s house, but will press forward by seeking the Lord’s direction to see souls cleansed and an increase in His Church.“Everyone to whom much was given, of him much will be required, and from him to whom they entrusted much, they will demand the more.”Luke 12:48b (ESV)In Christ’s Service and Coveting Your Prayers, Barry Rockburn, Interim DOM
The annual Mother’s Day Offering is the single most important day of giving for the Florida Baptist Children’s Homes. Your support will make a difference in the lives and eternities of thousands of orphaned and disadvantaged children that we serve every year in the name of Jesus.
EXECUTIVE COMMITTEEThe Executive Committee conducts business for the Association between the Fall and Spring Sessions, meeting quarterly on the last Tuesday during the months of November, February, May and August. Its membership consists of all Associational Officers, Standing Committee Chairmen and Staff, as well as, the pastor and one elected layperson from each church. Any other business that falls within the authority of the committee, as stated in our Constitution and By-Laws, is conducted as necessary. Items of business from this committee are reported to the Fall and Spring Sessions as necessary.
All department directors should have a quarterly report ready to share at this meeting, giving our Church representatives the opportunity to carry information back to their respective Churches.
